ABOUT THE ROLE
Co-ordinate and supervise an effective and efficient team of water services operators in carrying out the operations and maintenance of council’s water service assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and decision making, developing procedures to support the water services team with a safety-first culture and customer-centric mindset.
  • Monitor and supervise staff and operations in accordance with relevant regulations, to a high level of detail.
  • Provide technical assistance and advice to assigned staff
  • Plan and establish work schedules and generate work orders for timely maintenance and repair of water services assets.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA 

  • Certificate IV Leadership and Management, or demonstrated frontline leadership experience
  • Class C Driver’s Licence

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A track record of successfully managing and delivering projects within budget, timeline, and quality specifications.
  • Well-developed skills to maintain records, interpersonal skills and communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • A demonstrated ability to operate computing technology including but not limited to computers, SCADA, tablets, and smart phones with associated software.

  • Knowledge of design and design delivery experience essential

  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety responsibilities

About the Role
The primary purpose of the role is to work with Council’s Development Assessment team and provide engineering advice regarding proposed and future developments.

Duties

  • Lead and offer engineering services across the Council consistent with the Community Strategic Plan, Workplace Environment Statement and legislative requirements
  • Offer strategic engineering support for new subdivision development in the region in areas such as flooding, drainage, asset management, design, traffic management, road safety
  • Coordinate and deliver timely engineering counsel ensuring development assessment, subdivision and linen release processes meet statutory requirements
  • Develop strategies, policies and standards for land use planning linked to Council’s Strategic Plan
  • Report on WHS policies and procedures within their area of responsibility

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent recognized by the institute of Engineers Australia
  • Extensive experience in engineering related role with knowledge of key legislation as it relates to this role
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and motivate others
  • Advanced public relations and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to Project Manage; including budgeting and contract administration and knowledge of development assessment processes
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety responsibilities
  • Current Class C Driver Licence
